Amazon is sending out a fairly major update for the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. The update includes multiple new features, not the least of which is USB storage support. This allows a user to expand the storage on the Fire TV (not the Fire TV Stick) by plugging in a USB flash drive or portable hard drive. Apps, games and other content can all be stored on the USB storage without a problem.
Other new features include captive portal support for Wi-Fi, allowing you to connect to networks that require web authentication such as at hotels and universities, as well as support for Bluetooth headphones, so you don’t have to wake others with noise. PIN numbers are now hidden while entered for added security, the home button can now be held down to put the Fire TV to sleep or to enable display mirroring and Amazon Prime members can now browse and play Prime Playlists from Prime Music.
In addition to the update, Amazon is now selling the Fire TV Stick in both the U.K. and Germany.
