A new report from The Korea Times states that mobile carriers have pre-ordered more than 20 million of Samsung’s new flagships, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. After a reveal at Mobile World Congress and positive critical reception, the Galaxy S6 and its curved edge variant are selling like hotcakes. The 20 million pre-orders from mobile carriers reportedly sets a new record for Samsung and is a good indicator of the excitement building around the devices.
The orders are reportedly broken up as 15 million for the Galaxy S6 and 5 million for the more niche Galaxy S6 edge. While the numbers give us an idea of the demand, they don’t actually reveal what the consumer demand will be. Consumers will likely gobble up the Galaxy S6, but these sale numbers are for pre-orders to mobile carriers, who will then sell them to consumers.
Waiting to get your hands on one of Samsung’s new devices? The company has said that sales will begin in April, with Verizon already announcing that it will open pre-orders on April 1.
