Despite recent rumors that Huawei may have a hand in manufacturing the next Nexus smartphone, Korean outlet eToday is reporting that LG will be the next Nexus manufacturer.
According to eToday, Google engineers have been meeting with LG in South Korea to discuss a handset going by the codename “N000″ or the Nexus 7. If the news that Google employees visited LG’s research and development, display, and wireless charing and OIS component labs, it’s safe to assume some kind of collaboration between the two companies is in the pipeline.
Google is no stranger to working with LG, as the companies have brought both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 to life in recent years. A new Nexus 7 smartphone from LG could be quite the unique device. If naming trends for Nexus devices continues, we could be looking at a 7-inch tablet with phone capabilities. Of course, we are still a ways off from hearing any real details on such a device, but Google I/O is right around the corner. We aren’t expecting any smartphone launches at this year’s developer conference, but stranger things have happened.
