T-Mobile Nexus 6 getting Android 5.1 update

Nexus 6 owners on T-Mobile, begin hammering your “Check update” button.

T-Mobile is now pushing Android 5.1 to Nexus 6 models running on its network. T-Mobile product guy Des Smith confirmed the push on Twitter, saying that the update also includes Voice over LTE (VoLTE) support. T-Mobile’s Nexus 6 support page shows that the update is 409MB in size and is build LMY47M.

Along with a bump to Android 5.1 and VoLTE support, this update includes Device Protection, which is Google’s new way to keep your device safe if it’s stolen. The feature will keep your phone locked, even if the person that took it is able to wipe it.

If you’ve got a Nexus 6 on T-Mobile, you can check for this update by going into Settings > About phone > System Updates > Check now.

Be sure to let us know when the update hits your device!
