Facebook has announced a new feature that will allow users to send money to other users through Facebook Messenger. Payments through messaging services are on the rise, with both Gmail and Snapchat adding the ability to pay others through messages. Facebook is planning to get in on the action now, allowing you to quickly and easily send money through Facebook Messenger.
Odd as it may sound, the idea is actually quite smart. With a few taps on your phone, you can pay a photographer for their services, without the hassle of cash. Or, as Facebook’s example showed, you can repay a friend who bought concert tickets for you. The entire point of the move is to make it easier and faster to send cash to others. With the ubiquitousness of Facebook, the feature can be used widely, by people all around the country.
Facebook is currently testing the feature internally, and will roll it out to iOS and Android users in the coming months.
