Samsung using two different camera sensors in Galaxy S6 and S6 edge

You may have heard of Sony’s camera sensor demand exceeding supply, forcing many smaller manufacturers to look elsewhere for sensors. Even HTC, a big player in the smartphone game, went for Toshiba camera sensors for an unknown reason. Well it seems that event he big manufacturers are getting hit harder than expected.

The new Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge were thought to use Sony camera sensors, but that’s only half the truth. Apparently Samsung decided to use a mix of Sony and its own ISOCELL sensors in the devices, with no correlation between model or build date to sensor model. But thankfully, people should not be worried.

The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge utilize camera sensors from several different vendors. Like all of the technology used in our products, they meet our strict global quality and performance standards.Samsung

Samsung claims that the sensors are quality tested and will perform the same. And in testing by SamMobile, that is indeed the case. The two sensors perform nearly equally, with both performing excellently. So if you’re in the market for a Galaxy S6 or S6 edge, you don’t have to worry about which sensor you’re getting.
