Recently, what looked to be the new Nest Cam along with a brand new version of the Nest app, surfaced from the rumor mill, showing off a newly-designed piece of hardware. Turns out that initial report was right on target, as Best Buy has showcased the new camera and outed new features, too.
The product page for the new Nest Cam is still live on Best Buy’s site, but it has been since switched from “pre-order” to “coming soon,” with the option to click on anything worthwhile grayed out. It’s listed for $199.99, and unfortunately the official product page for the new Nest Cam doesn’t have any indication as to when the device will go on sale through the big box retailer.
The page also indicates that those who buy the new Nest App will be able to “stay informed” with the inclusion of notifications on their mobile device (through the Nest app), recording at 1080p HD resolution, a 130-degree field of view, as well as a new Nest Aware service that allows recordings to get saved in the cloud.
Update: And, just like that, the Nest Cam is now official. Best Buy’s landing page is now updated for pre-orders, so if you’re looking forward to picking up the Cam, pre-order away.
What do you think of the new Nest Cam?
