Last we heard of the ZTE Axon Phone, we were just discovering it was the ZTE Axon Phone. Previously, the handset was presented as just the Axon Phone, with no ZTE branding in sight. That has changed now that the handset is official, with a release date of July 27 for $449.
PCMag’s Sascha Segan has posted an in-depth hands-on article with the ZTE Axon Phone, where he shares what are some overwhelmingly positive views on the device. Design wise, the handset is made out of a premium metal material, which adds a new feeling of luxury to ZTE’s typically bland devices. Internally, the ZTE Axon Phone sports a 5.5-inch 2560×1440 display, 32GB of storage, 13-megapixel camera, Snapdragon 810 processor, 3000mAh battery and Android 5.1.1. While not unique is this feature, the Axon Phone does comes with a second camera sensor for things like focus adjustment.
The official price of the ZTE Axon Phone will be $449 — relatively affordable for the specs you’ll receive, and even more so considering ZTE is including a $40 pair of earbuds and a two-year warranty. Whether or not ZTE will be able to make a splash with the Axon Phone remains to be seen, but it certainly seems to be starting off on the right foot.
