AT&T now offering prepaid GoPhone plan with unlimited data

Over the past month or so, there’s been an unlimited data plan war waging between the US carriers. Now we’re starting to see unlimited data appear in prepaid, too.

AT&T is launching a new unlimited data plan for its prepaid GoPhone service. The AT&T GoPhone Unlimited plan is now available and offers unlimited talk, text, and data, as well as usage is Mexico and Canada for no extra charge. Pricing is $65 per month, but you can drop that to $60 per month by enrolling in AutoPay.

There are some finer details of this plan that you should be aware of. First up is that speeds are capped at 3Mbps, similar to AT&T’s postpaid Unlimited Choice plan. Also capped are video streams, which top out at 1.5Mbps/480p. And there’s a deprioritization threshold, meaning that once you hit 22GB of usage in a single month, your data usage will be prioritized below others when you’re on a congested cell tower.

Also launching today is a GoPhone plan with 6GB of high-speed data, after which you’ll be dropped to 128Kbps for the remainder of your billing cycle. This plan includes unlimited talk and text, too, and is priced at $45 per month or $40 with AutoPay.

Finally, AT&T’s GoPhone service is offering deals on select smartphones. Customers that sign up for a new line of service before April 20 can get $20 off the Samsung Galaxy Express 3, Samsung Galaxy Express Prime, LG Phoenix 2, or Apple iPhone 5s.
