Sony Xperia L1 now available with 5.5-inch display, $199.99 price

Back in March, Sony introduced a new entry-level member of its Xperia family, the Xperia L1. Fast-forward nearly two months and the L1 is now available.

The Sony Xperia L1 has launched at Amazon and Best Buy. Pricing is set at $199.99 for the unlocked GSM smartphone, with black, white, and pink color options available. Do note, though, that while the black and white versions are ready to ship now, the pink model is one to four weeks away from shipping at Amazon and out of stock at Best Buy.

In terms of specs, the Xperia L1 is running Android 7.0 on a 5.5-inch 1280×720 display. It’s packing a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera with a 24mm wide angle lens.

Inside the Xperia L1’s frame lives a quad-core MediaTek MT6737T processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a microSD slot. Rounding out the feature set is NFC, 4G LTE, a 2620mAh battery, USB Type-C, and Sony’s Xperia Actions. With this software feature, the Xperia L1 will learn how you use your phone and adapt to it. For example, if the phone recognizes that you regularly turn on the blue light filter and Do Not Disturb mode before you go to bed, it’ll offer to automatically activate those settings each night before you go to bed.

While the Xperia L1 is an entry-level device, it does have some nice features to offer for folks that are in the market for a budget unlocked phone. The inclusion of reversible USB-C is a nice touch, and the slim side bezels should help to make the Xperia L1 and its large screen a bit easier to hold.
