No Nougat update for OnePlus 2, confirms OnePlus

OnePlus 2 owners, we’ve got some bad news for you.

OnePlus today confirmed that the OnePlus 2 will not get an update to Android Nougat. “When we built the OnePlus 2 we didn’t have the software infrastructure team in place we do now,” OnePlus said in a statement to Android Authority.

OnePlus said back in November 2016 that it planned to update the OnePlus 2 to Android Nougat, but no release timeframe was given. The OP2 was updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow in mid-2016.

We haven’t heard much in the way of official info regarding the OnePlus 2’s Nougat update ever since OnePlus announced it back in November, so it’s not a huge surprise to learn that the update has been given the axe. It’s still a bummer, though, especially for those OnePlus 2 owners that’ve been waiting for their taste of Nougat to come. Now it looks like they’ll be stuck with Marshmallow unless they decide to load a custom ROM or upgrade to a new phone.

Are you using a OnePlus 2?
