Google releases November security update, includes Pixel 2 XL display tweaks and Pixel 2 clicking fix

Google today announced the November security updates for its Nexus and Pixel devices, and there are even some special goodies thrown in there for Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 2 owners.

First up, Google has gone ahead and detailed the different security patches that are included with the November 1, 2017 Android security update and the November 5, 2017 security update for Nexus and Pixel devices. Updates for the Nexus and Pixel devices should be rolling out now, but you can find the factory images here if you’d rather go that route.

Google also confirmed that the November update includes the Pixel 2 XL display fixes that were announced in October. There are new Boosted, Natural, and Saturated display color options for the Pixel 2 XL to let you get the look that you want. Google is also fading out the navigation buttons at the bottom of the Pixel 2 XL display and updating the maximum brightness to help extend the life of your Pixel 2 XL’s OLED display.

Meanwhile, Pixel 2 owners can expect a fix for the clicking sound that was heard in some devices.

While opinions will be split on the quality of the Pixel 2 XL’s screen, it is good to see Google roll out its promised display tweaks so soon after announcing them. If you’ve got a Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 2, or any other Nexus or Pixel device, keep an eye out for this November security update.
