Essential Phone now receiving Oreo Beta 3 update

After releasing the first Android Oreo beta in November and then a second Oreo Beta in December, Essential is keeping its streak alive today with Oreo Beta 3 for the Essential Phone.

Essential says that Oreo Beta 3 is now rolling out over the air to the Essential Phone. If you haven’t yet installed an Oreo Beta on your Essential Phone but you’d like to now, you can do so by pointing your browser right here.

The Oreo Beta 3 update is 106.5MB in size and includes the January 2018 Android security patches, with fixes for Spectre and Meltdown in tow. There are also some miscellaneous stability and bugs fixes included, too.

Essential says that it’s “very close” to the full release of Android Oreo for the Essential Phone. There’s still no hard release date, but that’s still exciting news for Essential Phone owners, especially those that have opted not to install these beta releases.
