While there are still some flagship smartphones out there that have a single rear camera, most OEMs have decided sticking a pair of rear cameras on their smartphone is the right way to go.
Huawei is one such company, but if the event invite for its upcoming showcase is any indicator, it may be looking to shake things up a bit this year. As first revealed by Android Central, Huawei is hosting an event on March 27 in Paris, France.
We can see the Eiffel Tower in the background, as well as a trio of faint O’s in the background, which would seem to be the first hint that Huawei is going to include three cameras on the back of the upcoming P20 flagship smartphone. Below that, the tagline of the event is “See ‘mooore’ with AI”, giving another hint at one of the biggest features coming to the smartphone.
Rumors suggest that Huawei will be unveiling not only the P20, but also the P20 Plus and, as pictured above (by way of @OnLeaks and TigerMobiles), the P20 Lite. There is no confirmation right now on specifically which devices will be getting the triple camera treatment this year, but if the above image is any indicator, it own’t be the P20 Lite.
There is no word on what Huawei will be doing with that third camera, so it will be interesting to see how it plays into the AI conversation. Whatever the case might be, we don’t have that much longer to wait.
