The OnePlus 6 is coming, and OnePlus is now in the phase where it’s building up hype for the handset.
It’s also trying to jump ahead of any negative feedback it might be getting due to the fact the OnePlus 6 is going to feature a notch in the display. This is a design cue that was initially started by Essential but became particularly famous when Apple launched the iPhone X last year. Now many different Android smartphones have a notch, but in some cases, owners are able to hide that particular “feature”.
That will be the case with the OnePlus 6, too. In a post on the company’s support forums, OnePlus confirms that it had originally tested a “black-out” feature for the notch which would effectively “black out the background of the notifications and status bar”. While OnePlus still suggests using the display with the notch, the company will be adding a black-out feature in a software update after the OnePlus 6 launches.
No particular date has been confirmed just yet, but at least future owners of the smartphone know it will arrive at some point if they aren’t a fan of the notch.
Are you happy you’ll be able to block out the notch on the OnePlus 6?
