Samsung’s new DeX Pad is available for pre-order ahead of May 13 launch in the U.S.

Samsung made a new DeX Pad to go along with its new Galaxy S9 flagship this year, and now you can buy one in the U.S.

Samsung is now taking pre-orders for its new DeX Pad in the U.S. for $99.99. The DeX Pad will begin shipping on May 13. What’s more, Samsung is offering a free DeX Pad to anyone who buys a Galaxy S9 or S9+ between April 9 and April 30.

This new DeX Pad features an updated design over last year’s model that lays the phone flat, enabling you to use it as a touchpad if you don’t have a mouse handy. With your phone docked in the DeX Pad, you can connect it to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse and use it like a desktop computer.

The DeX Pad lets you use mobile apps and games on a big monitor, as well as play videos using apps like MX Player and VLC. There’s support for virtual desktops and apps like Citrix, VMWare, and Amazon, too, as well as enterprise support for IT admins. Additionally, you can access your phone calls, messages, and notifications from the taskbar.

Included with this DeX Pad are two USB-A 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, and a USB-C charging port. The device supports display output of 1600×900, 1920×1080, or 2560×1440. Supported Samsung phones include the Galaxy S8 and S8+, Galaxy S8 Active, Galaxy Note 8, and Galaxy S9 and S9+. Your phone will need to be running Android 8.0 or higher to work with the DeX Pad.

This DeX Pad looks like a nice upgrade over last year’s model. Not only is it $50 cheaper, but it also lets you use your phone as a trackpad if you don’t have a mouse or don’t feel like carrying one around with you. So if you like to get work done on the go and would like to carry all your files, photos, and more on your phone, the DeX Pad may be worth a look.
