Essential has been working tirelessly to improve the Essential Phone since launch. Nine months later, the phone experience is almost unrecognizable. The camera in particular has been massively improved, and today’s update makes it even better.
One of the problems that remains is shutter lag; the Essential Phone simply takes a while to shoot a photo. This update has improved shooting speed in all modes, and I can confirm that it is significantly faster. Is it as fast as most flagships? No, but it’s getting closer. The Google Camera HDR+ port is still invaluable to keep around, but the stock camera app is definitely getting there.
Also included are improved animations and stability fixes. Head to the Play Store to download the new update and start shooting!
We released an update to Essential Camera app today. You can now take pictures faster across all modes, including Burst mode.
