OnePlus 6 now official with 6.28-inch ‘Full Optic’ AMOLED screen

It has been teased by OnePlus for quite awhile now, but the OnePlus 6 is now officially official.

The newest flagship smartphone from OnePlus brings a new glass design to OnePlus’s stable of handsets along with a few other key improvements over last year’s model. That includes a new AMOLED display, which OnePlus is coining as a “Full Optic Screen” with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and measures in at 6.28 inches.

As for what’s under the hood, OnePlus is offering a few different variants. They will all include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, but customers can choose between a OnePlus 6 with 6GB of RAM or 8GB of RAM. Built-in storage options will include 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB. The handset’s battery is measured in at 3300mAh, it will be running Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with OnePlus’s proprietary OxygenOS 5.1 on top.

There will be Face Unlock available as well, which OnePlus says will take 0.4s to access your phone. The fingerprint sensor takes only 0.2s, though, if you prefer that option. The OnePlus 6 features Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back, and OnePlus says the handset is rated for “daily water resistance”.

There is a dual camera setup on the back, with the primary shooter being a 16MP lens, and the other being 20MP.

The handset will be available in Mirror Black, Midnight Black, and Silk White in the United States, Europe, and Great Britain. The Midnight Black and Mirror Black options will be available beginning May 22 in Europe and North America, while the White Silk variant will go on sale June 5 in the same markets. You will be able to buy them from OnePlus’s online storefront.

The Mirror Black will cost $529 for the 6GB+64GB variant, and $579 for the 8GB+128GB option. The Midnight Black variant will have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for $579, or you can opt for the 8GB with 256GB of built-in storage for $629. Meanwhile, the Silk White will have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and it will retail for $579.

So what do you think of the OnePlus 6? Plan on picking one up when it becomes available?
