You can now use Google Assistant to buy movie tickets

Just in time for the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story, Google is rolling out a new feature for Google Assistant that will make it pretty easy to pick up tickets.

Today Google is announcing the ability to use Google Assistant to not only find a showtime for a movie near you, but also quickly use the digital assistant to secure tickets. Google is working with Fandango for the online purchases, so you can say something like “Hey, Google, get me tickets for…” and say the name of the movie. Or, if you don’t know what you want to see, just ask the Assistant to see “showtimes near me” and pick from there.

Using Google Assistant to buy movie tickets includes advanced sales as well, so you can get your tickets for a film that isn’t out yet. In this case, Solo: A Star Wars Story launches on May 25 in the United States.

Here’s a quick video showing it off:

This feature even supports reserved seating, even if it does take a few extra steps and taps. It’s a nice addition to be sure, and a feature that Google has been teasing since the inception of Google Assistant, so it’s good to finally see it become available.
