Google is creating a mobile device that utilizes a Snapdragon 710 processor, according to Roland Quandt of WinFuture. Quandt says that this device is scheduled for launch in early 2019, and is likely a mid-range Pixel device. He also floats the idea that this may be just one of several mid-range Pixel devices. This device has the model number, SDM710, and is codenamed “Bonito.” Wikipedia defines bonito as a “medium-sized, ray-finned predatory fish,” which, as Quandt points out, hints at the “fishiness” of the device.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a mid-range Pixel device. Back in April, it was rumored that Google would be launching a mid-range Pixel device in India as early as July. While “Bonito” doesn’t seem to be this device, we don’t know enough about it to say that it isn’t the same device, with a rescheduled 2019 launch.
We’ll keep you posted on future rumors regarding Google’s mid-range Pixel device, but for now, what are your thoughts? Should Google create a mid-range Pixel? Or will it tarnish the brand? Let us know in the comments!
