Google Maps is a still a one-stop shop for a lot of different features, all to help you get from one place to another.
One way to do that is with ride-hailing services like Uber or Lyft. Google Maps can show users a variety of information, including price estimates and pickup wait times. However, the app has also allowed for users to actually book a ride from within, without having to jump over to the official Uber app.
But that feature is getting axed, as was first reported by Android Police. Google has removed the feature that lets users book an Uber ride from within Google Maps. The feature was available for a little over a year, going live back in January of 2017. As of now, Google hasn’t confirmed anything as to why it dropped the feature.
This does put the Android app in line with the iOS app, though. Google removed the feature from that other platform’s app not too long ago as well.
It’s worth noting, though, that the ability to see pickup wait times and price estimates is still present in the app, so that’s better than nothing.
