OnePlus is now pushing out another update to its flagship OnePlus 6.
OxygenOS 5.1.7 is now rolling out to the OnePlus 6 over the air. This update fixes a schedule setting issue with Do Not Disturb mode and also updates the bootloader to improve system security.
It was recently discovered that a vulnerability with the OnePlus 6 would allow someone to bypass the phone’s bootloader protections and boot any modified image. This means that if someone had physical access to your OnePlus 6 and a connection to a PC, they could take control of your OnePlus 6. The update to OxygenOS 5.1.7 should fix this issue.
As with most OxygenOS updates, the update to OxygenOS 5.1.7 is rolling out incrementally. That means that a small number of OnePlus 6 owners will get the update today, with the update rolling out more widely over the coming days.
Also of note is that OnePlus 6 owners in India will not be receiving OxygenOS 5.1.7. That’s because some OnePlus 6 users in India ran into stability problems with OxygenOS 5.1.6, so OnePlus has paused that update and is working to address the stability issues with an update to OxygenOS 5.1.8. That update should begin going out next week and will include all of the fixes included with OxygenOS 5.1.7.
