Samsung is one of more prolific Chrome OS device makers, and today the company revealed its latest Chromebook hardware.
The Samsung Chromebook Plus V2 is now official. It’s got a convertible design to let you use the screen more like a tablet when you don’t need the keyboard and comes with a stylus with its own slot that’s built in to the laptop and doesn’t require charging.
In terms of hardware specs, the Chromebook Plus V2 is packing a 12.2-inch 1920×1080 touchscreen with a 1MP front-facing camera for video chat as well as a 13MP rear-facing camera with autofocus for use when in tablet mode. Powering the device is an Intel Celeron 3965Y processor that’s paired with 4GB of RAM.
Other notable specs include 32GB of storage, a microSD card slot in case you need additional storage, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 2 USB-C ports that offer 4K display out with an optional adapter, and 1 USB 3.0 port. There are stereo speakers built in to the Chromebook Plus V2, and the curved cap keyboard can withstand spills up to 60cc.
While it features a design similar to the previous Chromebook Plus, this new V2 model has some notable changes. The screen is slightly smaller and lower-res, but the Chromebook Plus V2 did gain an Intel processor, while the previous version had an ARM chip. It’s also gained that 13MP camera to let you easily snap photos while you’re using the device in tablet mode.
The Samsung Chromebook Plus V2 will be available from Best Buy stores and BestBuy.com starting June 24th for $499.99.
