Amazon’s third-gen Echo Dot reportedly leaks out in new images

Amazon last updated the Echo Dot in September of 2016, and now it looks like the company has a new idea on the way.

According to reports from AFTVNewsNumerama and FrAndroid, Amazon is currently working on a third-generation Echo Dot device that changes up the design quite a bit over the last two iterations.

If the images of this smart speaker are real, then the next Echo Dot will have a rounder design with fabric running along the side of the smart speaker. The smart speaker has a decidedly familiar look to the Google Home Mini, even if it will be a bit taller than Google’s option.

The images show that there will be the standard physical buttons on the top of the speaker and LED lights on the top to give a visual cue when the speaker is being used. It looks like the third-gen Echo Dot will be a bit bigger than the current model, too. Amazon may be going down that route to improve the overall audio quality of the new Echo Dot, which should be good news for future owners.

We may see Amazon announce the new Echo Dot in September. Based on what you can see here, are you interested in this new Echo Dot design?
