Google improving local event search

Google already allows you to search for local events in the mobile Google app. It’s a good way to find events near you to attend. However, the company is rolling out major improvements for this feature over the next few days.

You can search for local events and Google will give you information about the event like time, location, venue information, and ticket providers. You can buy a ticket right away or save the event for later.

There’s also a new tab called “For You” which will give you personalized suggestions based on your interests. We imagine that it will take time to really get to know you, but it’s a useful addition nonetheless.

If you’re an event coordinator, Google has put out guidelines for how to make your events appear in this feature. More information about this is available here.

If you want to give it a shot, search for things like “events near me” or “free concerts” on your phone and check out the results. This feature will be available to everyone in the next few days so let us know how you like it!
