Google telling users that the Play Store doesn’t have Fortnite

Fortnite for Android isn’t on the Play Store, and Google is making sure that everyone interested in the game knows it.

Searching for “Fortnite” on the Play Store will yield the result you see above. Google is showing a message that reads “Fortnite Battle Royale by Epic Games, Inc is not available on Google Play”, which should spur interested players to search for the game and find their way to Epic’s Fortnite website.

While many of us know that Epic has decided to skip the Play Store and distribute Fortnite on its own in order to have a “direct relationship” with players and avoid giving Google a 30 percent cut of its sales, there are some Android users out there that don’t know that. In fact, they may not even know that you can get Android apps outside of the Play Store. By displaying this message in searches for Fortnite, Google is warning those people that the official Fortnite game isn’t in the Play Store, helping them to avoid fakes that could try to scam them.
