Ever since OnePlus started selling phones to folks in the United States, it has always offered unlocked phones direct to consumers who want near-flagship specs without having to fork over a lot of cash compared to the top-tier competition. The reason for that is because OnePlus hasn’t nailed down a major wireless carrier partnership in the United States like it has in some cases in Europe, but that may be changing soon.
This would be a historic moment for OnePlus, as it would mean its first agreement with a major wireless network in the United States. As for the phone itself, it will allegedly be built with optimizations specifically for T-Mobile’s network, including support for the 600MHz band of spectrum.
Nothing is official yet, and the original report indicates that OnePlus is still in the middle of the “technical approval” process with T-Mobile, so nothing is set in stone just yet. Still, if you’ve been hoping for carrier support for OnePlus before you pick one up, that wait may be coming to an end soon.
The OnePlus 6T will probably be unveiled in October, so we don’t have too much longer to wait to see if this pans out.
