Google fix for Pixel 3 disappearing photos bug coming soon

Some folks who bought Google’s new Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL recently discovered that their phones will occasionally not save a photo after it’s been captured. This is a pretty serious issue, as the Pixels are flagship phones and many people use their phone as their sole camera. Thankfully, Google has said that a fix for the bug is coming.

Google today confirmed that it’s aware of this disappearing photos bug and that it’ll be fixed in an upcoming software update. “We will be rolling out a software update in the coming weeks to address the rare case of a photo not properly saving,” the company said in a statement to Android Police.

It’s still unclear exactly what is causing this bug to occur, but it’s good to hear that a fix is coming. While we wait for the update, if you Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owners use your phone to snap a photo of something important, you may want to double check that your photo actually saved before continuing on with your day.

UPDATE: Google has confirmed that this fix will also be made available to the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL.
