Sony Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Compact now receiving Android 9 Pie update

If you happen to own the Xperia XZ2 or XZ2 Compact, Sony has a nice gift for you heading into the weekend.

As noted by XperiaBlog, Sony is now rolling out the Android 9.0 Pie update for both of the aforementioned handsets. It’s a standard over the air (OTA) rollout, which means it will happen gradually before eventually landing on all of the devices out there in the wild. If you don’t already have the software update ready to install on your handset, it should arrive soon.

Sony is including a new camera app with the update, but the company isn’t including a selfie portrait mode. The new software bumps up the version number to 52.0.A.3.27 and includes the October 2018 Android security patches as well.

If you own an Xperia XZ2 or Xperia XZ2 Compact, let us know what you think of the update in the comments below.
