Nexus 5X and 6P have finally reached their end-of-life

This latest security update for November 2018 launched for both the Nexus and Pixel devices, but it may be the last time the latest Nexus devices will be updated. The LG Nexus 5x and Huawei Nexus 6P have now reached the official end-of-life.

The devices were released three years ago now and Google’s official documentation says that there will be “no guaranteed” security updates or support after November 2018. That doesn’t mean that all updates have definitely stopped… but they likely have.

This shouldn’t come as any surprise as these dates have long been public. Still, it’s sad to see the end of an era. Nexus devices were long seen as a stock Android haven for developers and enthusiasts alike. The Pixel devices are great, but they cater to a different market (and cost far more). If you still use one, time to flash a ROM that still gets constant updates.
