Android app idea!

what is the ONE app that you would like to see in the play store?

I have for some time wanted to created a social “story writing” kind of app wherein users can start a story and feed in like a sentence and then someone else can follow it up and so on…to write a story. It would be kind of fun to have a romantic-thriller-horrer-sci-fi-comic (of course) story at the end.

What is your big idea?

Your app idea sounds kinda interesting, but I’d be wary of the inevitable trolls who introduce a bag of dicks into every story and completely ruin it. Maybe set voting periods (with up/down votes), and the highest score is nominated to be the next paragraph/sentence of the story?

Lol…I was thinking about it. This looks like a good idea. I was also going to limit the number of words you can write at one time. This will make it more interesting ;)

I would recommend using KickStarter if you have an app idea you think that you can bring to the market.

    • droilfade

Yeah maybe! Thanks. I also wanted to hear if other users had an app that they wished for!

id like to see an augmented shopping list. (will work best with google goggles)

type in your list, then as you walk round your supermarket, the foods you need get highlighted (or jump out of shelf)

you need to team you with a super marked, but this would be a males dream.

One of the guys in a product innovation class had a similar idea. He proposed shopping carts enabled with bluetooth so that you can hook up your list and then find out where something is easily and would just need to pay the total at the checkout instead of taking out things out of your basket!

I think Stop and Shop has hand-scanners that you can scan as you shop and pay at the end. They are now testing smartphone apps that do the same thing. I think the next logical step would be, as people here have mentioned, being able to pre-load your shopping list and get directions around the store to get your stuff…

Of course, I am sure the supermarkets would throw crap in trying to get you to buy a comparable store brand instead, but…

It’s not precisely what you are talking about, but did you see the shopping cart that the Chaotic Moon folks did for Whole Foods. It uses a Kinect to follow the shopper and will recognize and check items off your list as you drop them into the cart.

  • droilfade

Oh wow! Kinda like a interior decoration kinda thing! Neat!

  • droilfade

Wow! Love the In-query app… damn useful! Maybe link it to LinkedIn???

    • droilfade

That would be awesome! Will wait for it :)

I like this idea. Man, I can remember doing these kinds of stories back on my BBS back in the 80′s… (yeah, I am old)

    • droilfade

Which one? There are couple of discussed here :p ! 80′s was also when Transformers came out I think, no? (Sorry about the rant!)

I’d like to see Flipboard on Android, and Tweetbot.

Feedly isn’t too bad (particularly it’s strong syncing with Google Reader), but I’m not a big fan of Pulse or Flud, and the other RSS/news readers on Android don’t do much for me either.

I quite enjoy using Flipboard on my iPad, and so I’d love to have it on my Android phone.

Apart from that, Tweetbot is one I’d love to have on Android. Boid is coming along nicely, but it’s still a long way off being “Android’s Tweetbot,” and there’s not many appealing alternatives – I’m not a fan of Plume or Twicca at all, and those appear to be a favourite for most people.

    • droilfade

      Have you tried Seesmic?

      • mkstvns

Yep, not a fan of that either. I’ve pretty much gone through all the best-known ones.

I’m exceptionally fussy, and not always in a good way. I imagine I’m far from being the usual user that app developers think about, haha.

        • droilfade

Lol…you might that app for yourself if not anything else!! lol….

Flipboard is available for Android now.

You can search for a “pre release” version on the web or sign up to get notification when it is officially releases here:
