Bluetooth Game Controllers: Do you have one or want one?

Posted Apr 26, 2012 at 11:23 am in Threads > Apps & Games

Recently, I received a Zeemote and have been playing around with it a ton. For those of you that haven’t heard of it, the Zeemote is a small bluetooth game controller. Several developers have games specifically meant to work with the Zeemote, but there really isn’t that many good quality games that are developed to work with it. (Running Fred is a pretty fun platformer.)

In the past I’ve played emulators using PS3 controllers, or Wiimotes in combination with an MHL adapter, and my HDTV. I have absolutely loved it. (I don’t even use my modded Xbox to play emulators anymore.)

What games are the best to play with bluetooth controllers? Some games are lacking when it comes to touch controls, so I’m always interested in finding out some new games. For those of you who don’t have one, do you want a bluetooth controller?

I want one, but there are some problems.
PS3 controller is pretty comfortable, easy to setup and cheap (I mean chinese “dualshocks” on ebay) but they are damn big, it’s difficult to put them somewhere.
Portable controllers are not so comfortable and not cheap :(

That’s true, at least you don’t have to carry the whole PS3 in your pocket. Once someone can come up with a foldable controller, that’s easily pocketable, I’ll be the first in line to buy it.

I don’t think I’ve seen the perfect solution yet. But if there was one it would be similar to the controllers that cradle your phone, either a slot int he top or sandwiched between the controls.

Or like the sony android Xperia that comes w a ps3 remote like body… #perfection

I would love a device like that, especially if they created something like the PS Vita with cell radios. The Xperia Play really interested me when it was first released, but the specs weren’t as high end as I would’ve liked.

I have the OnLive Universal controller Works flawlessly for playing OnLive games. The only thing I wish it had was a battery indicator.

I got it too but I wish I could play it on my phone… nexus s 4g

        Doesn’t it work on Bluetooth?

The quality of the games lately deserve a controller and to be hooked up to a tv. I need a DLNA thingy and il be there.

I heard the ps3 has DLNA, can u use that to hook your phone up to the tv? I’ve seen pas to pair ps3 remotes to phone.

maybe I already have all the gear but no idea lol.

as to a mobile controller; no, if out gaming is to waste time in waiting rooms for me. I’d feel way to nerdy whipping a controller out and resting my phone somewhere.

Wow you can use the PS3 controller that’s awesome.

I wouldn’t mind using a bluetooth controller. I’m already using my phone as a mouse and keyboard w/ the bluetooth. the thing works great.

    • B2L

I’ve been looking for a good app to use my device as a mouse, what do you use?

      • CTown

It’s very basic but I like RemoteDroid… but I thought it would be good for gaming (and it uses Wifi, not bluetooth)!

        • B2L

I’ll have to give that a try, thanks.

What games do people recommend playing with a controller in the first place. I have only used a Wii remote for some emulators.

    • B2L

I have played Shadowgun, Riptide GP, SNES emulators, Modern Combat 3, N.O.V.A. 2, and Backstab. Most HD games support the use of sixaxis controllers, as long as you have the correct profiles.

I know this is a super old thread, but I found a really interesting-looking and cheap bluetooth controller on eBay that I thought other people might want to know about:

    • taz88ny

That looks great, except that they don’t recommend it for Android 4.0.

      • Esoth

I just bought it, so we shall see. I read around and it seems to work okay with 4.1 and above, so hopefully it all works out. Apparently the two joysticks register as the same thing though, but I’m hoping I can remap them manually.

        • jonstle

Curious to see if you are able able to do that. It would make it a viable solution!

        • taz88ny

It’s been a couple of weeks since you ordered. Did you get the controller? How does it work?

  • Noob13

How do u connect your ps3 controller to your iPod? I really want to use it that way but don’t know how to.
