A New Window Manager for Chrome OS

    It looks so cool!
The split screen stuff was really the only thing holding chrome books back from being decently productive, this’ll be really good when they polish it up for the stable channel :-)
I just wish I could try it out, my HP net book is so lame that I can’t even put hexxeh’s Lime builds on it :-(

We need to leave the windows-based paradigm. One of the things I loved was the fact that Chrome OS didn’t have “windows” as such, but rather panes. But now they’re leaving that paradigm.

Majority of the time, we have – at most – two things we’re focusing on on a screen: one input, one output. Anything else on the screen is not in focus and we usually just switch between all the windows, while still focusing on – at most – two at a time. In other words – we don’t need windows, we need a better way to switch between tasks and have two tasks open at one time.

Windows 8 and Cornerstone (kind of) are following this paradigm, and it’s definitely the way to go. Better task switching, less managing, more productivity.

And we’re talking on a single screen, not on a multi-monitor system, which makes the idea of one-to-two easy-manage panes on each screen way better.

I’m really surprised they didn’t do it like metro snap or cornerstone, that would fit a lot better. Its kind of sad to see that task bar at the bottom too
