Options for Unlocked GSM Nexus

Posted Apr 25, 2012 at 9:21 am in Threads > Smartphones & Tablets

My wife has never had a smartphone. When google announced they are selling unlocked GSM nexus directly, I was convinced and ordered the phone for her (and my use as well of course). Here is my dilemma – what carrier do I use this for? Should I go prepaid or sign a contract (will try to get a cash subsidy of course in place of a subsidized phone)? What are your thoughts? Thanks everyone.

This was sort of discussed in a previous thread:
The consensus seems to be to give something like Simple Mobile or Straight Talk a try. There haven’t been too many complaints about either service, but you should double-check your coverage area first. If you don’t like the service, you can always default to T-Mobile or AT&T later.

Thanks, I saw that. I was looking for the whole picture though, not just prepaid.

Pre-paid is always cheaper than post-paid I think. Who wants to be locked into a lame contract?
