Verizon – HTC One vs Galaxy S4 vs Galaxy Note vs Moto X vs Moto Droid Ultra

Posted Aug 22, 2013 at 3:18 pm in Threads > Smartphones & Tablets

I am in the search for a new phone and am considering a few different options. My carrier is Verizon. I have had a company crapberry for the last few years, but before that i had an HTC Hero and currently have a Rooted Toshiba Thrive Tablet. Wife has had an old samsung android phone and now has a year old Razr (whose battery sucks)

If you had a choice between the phones above, which one would you choose, and why? any personal experience with any ofthem?

Each have their pluses and minuses. I dont use the phones for anything extreme (anything is better than this blackberry i have, which doesn’t do anything). Mostly music listening/streaming, email, twitter, light web browsing, text and of course calls.

Any opinions would be greatly apprecated. I have read all the reviews on this site so far, but would like additional opinions. I am leaning towards two of them, but am keeping options open.

My opinion may be tainted, but I’d go with the HTC One – especially if you’re into music. Beats integration is OK if you like it, but HTC is the only one that has included built-in amplifiers for the headphone jack and speakers. also, the One has stereo speakers on the from. The trademarked BoomSound name is ridiculous, but watching videos or listening to music without headphone is actually an enjoyable experience with the One.

    HTC One

I am torn, too. I like the looks and the specs on the HTC one, but would rather have the near-stock and the notifications on the X. The camera on the X concerns me, but there were some rumblings that a software update could fix this. Also not too sure about some of the tinting on the screen…

Luckily, the X should be out soon and I can compare side-by-side.

Thanks guys, those are pretty much my thoughts too. Leaning towards the One, but the almost pure android experience has me thinking of the X.

Once Moto Maker comes out on VZW I am about 90% sure I will be buying the MotoX over any other phone on VZW, unless something else magically appears in the next few months before Moto Maker.

For me its between the moto x and HTC one. The one for the speakers and design but the x is so smooth(went and played with one at att store and man was it nice. Plus I like what they added with the ea cores dedicated to certain tasks. I think a lot can be done with what moto has done and should hopefully get quicker updates being near stock.

I was all set to get the Moto X but I just was at the ATT store and its screen seems smaller. The on screen keyboard especially seems cramped compared to the HTC One.

I know they say both are 4.7 but could it be that one’s slightly bigger while the other is slightly smaller?

i was at At&t 2 days ago and played around with the X. I felt like the phone looked better in pics than in person and it actually looked a little cheap.

Also, I knew there were some similarities with the Droid phones but the more I read about the Droid phones, the more alike they seem. I didn’t know that the “double twist” of the wrist feature to launch the camera was on the Droid phones. The always listening feature is on them too. Motorola didn’t do a good job of distinguishing them.

I held the x at target today and was a bit disappointed by the quality. The screen size was near identical to my gnex, but the phone was smaller. Still think I am leaning toward HTC one, but with Nova…
