Week 7 suggestions for #thenextinstall

Posted May 24, 2012 at 2:58 pm in Threads > Apps & Games

Took a couple weeks off, but I’m back to doing the weekly nextinstall chanllenge. Do the following if you want to participate in this experiment and play along:

  • Find an app with less than 100k installs
  • Come up with a one or two sentence pitch that encourages users to install it
  • Submit your suggested app in the comments below

Also still working on the scoring system to determine which app wins. Right now I’m just looking at installs, clicks on this site, coverage on other sites, and review scores.

Still looking for suggestions on how to improve the format. Maybe weekly prizes to the users who suggested an app would help encourage participation.

I picked up Rebuild as part of the “Because we May” sale, and from what I’ve played of it so far, it’s pretty fun.

It’s based on a free flash-based web game, trying to reclaim a town after the zombie apocalypse. It’s a turn-based strategy game, with good style, and only 1000-5000 installs.

I’m apparently doing something wrong, because anytime I’ve tried to post a Play link in a comment today, it’s deleted the entire comment, so that’s why I’m leaving it out.

      yeah, I totally can’t post links…Hmmm

Yeah, I can’t post links to that app either. VERY strange…

Thanks, I wonder what about that link was screwing everything up?

Remember that pop video player we saw on the galaxy SIII? Well here’s an alternative to that, and let’s just say this is rather better, when clicking YouTube links online you can have it play with this, I’ve found it rather useful and I use it rather often.

Nice find. I saw this a couple weeks ago but forgot about it.

I am a Minecraft fan so I am on it alot. But I always find it annoying as hell when I forget a recipe, espicially those pistons! And I know there is that canary app but I find it ugly looking and who wants an ugly app?

Then I found the app Minecraft Craftbook. it only has 50-100 installs but it has a nice style, up to date and has a mod section too! I feel like I wanted to make the guy know that people do like his app! So thats why I’m suggesting it here :)

Well, the one app which I feels deserves lots of accolades but thus far has gotten no considerable amount of mainstream Android coverage is AppSales. It is an amazing app that keeps track of the latest apps that go on sale on Google Play.

It’s not spammy, no ads, just totally free. No other app on the Play store does what this app does. The app is very current, and thus far I have gotten many great deals.

So far there are around 1000 installs, so it’s getting better. The app is also in Beta, but it’s highly polished, and mighty functional.

    My recommendation is: Silent Time.

Silent Time makes it easy to schedule periods of time where you want your phone to be silent. It also has a feature to make exceptions for certain contacts.

It’s a quick “launcher” that you invoke by swiping from the edges. I have been using it on ICS and it’s surprising polished for a new release.

“Measur it” is a great need-to-have tool on the phone. This is actually a measurment tape as an application.
used to measure small and medium sized objects suxh as small furnitures, small boxes and such..
This app is very handy at the you need it.

“Infinity Photo Album” is fast, smooth image viewer and Photo Album. Unlike other apps it can read your XMP data (keywords, ratings) and you can browse your images in different ways.

It has 5 main modes: folders, albums, protected folders, tags and ratings.

Besides that has some features very rarely seen in android image viewers like thumbs bar.

It’s fast (once the thumbs are generated). Some people say it’s better than QuickPic.

Evernote Hello Helps You Remember Your Contacts’ Faces, Obsessively Document How You Met Them
Some people are simply amazing with remembering faces. I’m not one of them. Evernote, creator of the widely-renowned note-taking app of the same name, has set out to help me with Evernote Hello. I guess you guys can use the app too. The app is a visual contact list that puts your contacts’ faces front and center. It even allows you to take down notes of how you met someone, and tie notes in your Evernote account to your contacts’ encounters.
