What do you consider the best browser?

Posted May 01, 2012 at 10:13 pm in Threads > Apps & Games

I have tried several browsers over the years, although I still haven’t found the perfect one. I’m currently using Opera Mini Next, it’s a great browser, it just has some bugs, and flaws. In the past I’ve tried Miren Browser, Firefox, Boat Browser, Dolphin HD, and every version of Opera. I can’t try Chrome yet, since I’m still on Gingerbread.

What’s your favorite browser? What do you like most about it?

I’m pretty happy with Chrome on my phone, but obviously that’s an option specific to Android 4.0.

Haven’t found a reason yet to bother with others, though. I used to run Dolphin and Skyfire, but Chrome is doing me good.

I’ll give you a run down of my favorite browser excluding chrome.

    1. Dolphin hd: for some odd reason it feels a million times better on ics than it does on GB. It truly runs like a desktop browser.

    2. Opera Mobile: its super fast, and the best thing about it, is that it downloads files faster than any other browser.

    3. Marathon browser: its pretty fast and smooth and the marathon passport keeps your bookmarks so you won’t have to worry about losing them.

    4. Over skreen: its only this low because you have to pay for it… But I do love it.. Sometimes you just wanna check a website really quick and exit it off and with this you can just view sites above any app you’re using.

I’ll have to give Marathon browser a try. Dolphin HD is a nice browser, but even with my Note it just runs way too slow, I’ll have to give it another shot when I get ICS.

I think he means Maxthon Browser, not marathon.

        • kwills88

          Crap you’re right, Lol.

Just an update, thanks for recommending Maxthon Browser. I’ve been using it as my main browser for quite a few days now. It’s definitely one of the best browsers for people still on Gingerbread.

I would say that Chrome is the fastest one I have tried so far.

Firefox isn’t that great still has some issues and it is slow on some pages.

Opera Mini is great I used it a lot

And The stock ICS browser isn’t that bad too way better than the one in GB

From g1 toy latest phone, I was a dolphin fan, loved the tab browsing, and it was stable and fast, and the icing for me was the lastpass plugin.

since my new device I’ve been using chrome, and love it, sadly no lastpass so I keep dolphin on standby

  • bolanrox

on Gnex i have tried Chrome, Dolphin HD, and Firefox so far. Dolphin and chrome are nice, but honestly the stock browser isn’t all that bad either truthfully.

I am not a heavy web viewer on my phone so for the random link to follow i keep swapping which one i use.

I don’t mind the stock browser, it just doesn’t have enough features for me to use on a daily basis. The stock browser in ICS was great on my Nexus S, and Galaxy Nexus, the Gingerbread browser doesn’t really compare.

      • Jason

You should try Quick ICS browser.. it’s basically the stock ICS browser with additional features.

I’m guessing it’s only compatible with ICS, or it’s just not compatible with my Galaxy Note. I’ll have to give it a try when I get the update, I’m on a mission to see how long I can take it without rooting, and flashing. I’m going on 6 months now, this is the first device I’ve ever wanted to keep stock for so long.

Does anyone else know of any not so well known browsers?

    • Cmotion

One lesser known browser, for some reason, is Boat Browser. You should definitely check that one out!

      • http://www.ndroidgamers.com B2L

I have tried Boat Browser and liked it, but there was something that made me want to switch. I’ll have to give it another try, I haven’t used it in the past 6 months.

I love Dolphone compared to the stock browser. I just find the swipe for bookmarks feature so freakin’ handy! Plus I love being able to have multiple tabs open at once.

  • Abizaid

El que viene en tu dispositivo es rapido la cuestion es usar la aplicacion correcta para hacer poco mas rapido… Inclusive un acceso directo en tu pagina principal a google bastaria…

I keep going back to Opera mobile. I love the speed, fluidity, and features. The ics browser is too sluggish for me. Fwiw, I’ve never tried dolphin.

Am I reading this translation correctly?

“He who comes in your device is faster the question is to use the right application to do little faster … even a shortcut on your google home page to suffice…”

  • Yogesh Kumar

I tried Native browser but didn’t like. I love Dolphin HD.

  • Thade780

ICS Browser+ trumps all other browsers. Chrome at the very moment is still a joke. Used to love Miren on GB.

  • ruperto17

Before I had the One S,I tried several browsers like Dolphin and Opera but for some reason some websites (including Google’s) detects it as a basic browser and doesn’t render it as nice as the native browser.

  • Slith

    Love my Chrome.

  • Jedediah Sweetser

Pre ICS I used dolphin. Now that I’m on ICS, Chrome all the way. Fast, syncs, and is just awesome. Pre loading is amazing.

  • Karan O

At the moment I’m loving Chrome Beta. the Stock browsers isn’t to bad and the + version of the stock app is also nice.

  • Miguel

I use both stock ICS & Chrome.

  • Jasonhunterx

Stock Ics And Chrome when it wants to work properly Dam Beta

  • androidindia

    dolphin :P
    not yet on ics :/

  • Uudashr

    I like chrome

  • masterpfa

Chrome for me as first choice, followed by stock ICS browser, which isn’t half bad.

  • Noel

Chrome, opera mini and stock ICS browser

  • Glenbot3000

Preloading and syncing on Chrome completely blow the others out of the water, and the latter will never be able to be competed on until someone releases a better desktop browser.

  • TAM_the_MAN

I use Dolphin HD. If I was ICS I would give chrome a try. Dolphin gives me the full desktop experience. I like to open multiple tabs and they have great add-ons.

  • Yonas

    Chrome,syncing everywhere i go !

  • Ali

If you have ICS, those popular browsers including the stock browser are all good choices. it is the matter of taste and also cramming the data usage on your data plan if limited. I personally don’t like the new splash screen on Dolphin and Maxthon. tired Skyfire and Opera mini for data saving reason at the end of the month and felt they are very primitive. then tried the UC browser and chrome and was not impressed. Dolphin was the most sophisticated and smooth/ classic looking along with the ICS stock browser till I came across the BOAT browser and it impressed me from the get-go. if you don’t want the blank home page with all your favorite links then choose one, if you don’t like the bottom toolbar then hide it. scroll/slide the page to the left and see all those option you have including screen-shot! the more you use it the more you begin to like it and it is only 3 MB in size!
