With all this patent and lawsuit stuff surrounding Android

With all these patent lawsuits going on recently, would people actually welcome it if ALL OEMs went to just stock Android? I honestly wouldn’t mind if there was more stock devices, but OEMs have some great features in their devices that I feel help push along AOSP android. Things like taking a photo while capturing video, swype to the left on a contact to call or right to send a sms.

I think it will be a trade off, as much as we bitch and moan about manufacturers getting their hands on stock android, they do help push the market. But what do you guys think? Do you want more stock devices? All stock devices, or do you feel that it helps to add differentiation to the market.

I think we would all welcome pure Android devices, but the OEMs are not going to give up skins anytime soon. They feel like they need a way to differentiate their devices and crappy skins are their favorite method.

As long as consumers keep buying devices with TouchWiz, Motoblur, and Sense, then we will keep getting more of the same. Start voting with your wallet and only purchase Nexus devices if you want to see more stock Android.
