Samsung Behold II headed to T-Mobile this year

T-Mobile expanded their Android lineup on Sunday by unveiling the Samsung Behold II Android phone which is expected to launch later this year. Pricing and exact availability have not been released and we are still waiting on the official press release from T-Mobile USA.

Highlights of the device include:

  • TouchWiz user interface
  • 3.2 inch AMOLED display
  • 5 megapixel camera with flash
  • WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1
  • MicroSD expansion slot

No information has been given on the CPU, memory, and internal storage but we might see something new from Samsung. It has been rumored that ATT and T-Mobile would deliver a phone based on nVidia Tegra this year for $199. Samsung has confirmed they are working on a Tegra phone, but no further details have been released.

Samsung Mobile is making a major product announcement on October 7, 2009 so maybe we will get more information this week. We were thinking they might unveil the Samsung InstinctQ for Sprint, but maybe both devices will make an appearance.

I’m sticking with the G1 until I see a phone with 3 things: 1) a much faster processor, 2) much more internal memory, and 3) a physical keyboard.

3G service is limited by these phone’s anemic processor’s. That’s why the survey on this site’s front page about how much you would pay for faster service is absurd, and I am surprised that it is even there.

The phones can’t begin to take advantage of the speeds provided now. When I wirelessly tether my G1, using it as a modeem for my laptop or my netbook, I get download speeds of literally 10 times faster than I get on my G1! So the difference is the slow processor of my G1 as opposed to the much faster processors in my laptop and netbook.

I concur- I can’t get excited about any phone with a physical keyboard.

That Verizon TAO from motorola looks slick, but I’d have to see it in person and go completely apes@#t for it to break a tmobile contract. I’m hoping Tmobile ends up with something similar with a bigger processor.

One thing is for sure- these phones are getting to be really NICE and by 2011-2012 we are gonna have some really exciting devices in our hot mitts
