We were hoping LG might debut a new Android phone for the United States at CES, but that was not the case. However, a recent report out of Korea reveals that nearly half of their future smartphones will feature Android.
On display at CES was a new world phone the LG Swift (GT540). The specs were nearly non-existent except that is features Android 2.x, a 3.2 inch display, and 3 megapixel camera. The Swift is a GSM phone and likely headed for the UK market. In the video below you can see LG has created a custom UI, but we also learned that this can be toggled on and off.
LG recently announced they are working on a Snapdragon-powered Android phone for South Korea and we expect a similar device for the United States. Look to CTIA in late March for LG to announce their first Android phone for the states. We also heard that LG plans to target all four major U.S. carriers with their new line of smartphones.
