Sprint’s 4G WiMAX keeps on rolling into new markets

Sprint continues to expand their 4G WiMAX coverage and just announced that three new markets have come online. Customers in Richmond, Va., Salt Lake City and St. Louis can all take advantage of the faster network and 4G handsets like the HTC EVO 4G and the upcoming Samsung Epic 4G.

The 4G WiMax network now covers over 40 million people in 36 markets and is set to cover 120 million by year’s end. New markets coming soon include Boston, Cleavland, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco and many more. To check 4G in coverage in your area, please visit sprint.com/4g.

Keep in mind that 4G speeds will vary based on a number of factors. Sprint claims their 4G WiMAX is 10x faster (3-6 Mbps downloads) than current 3G networks, but we have been unable to achieve those types of speeds in our testing across Texas cities. The good thing is you can give it a test drive by taking advantage of the Sprint Free Guarantee. This promotion allows customers to try 4G for 30 days and if they are not satisfied, they can cancel service and have the opportunity to be fully reimbursed.

If you opt for a 4G handset from Sprint, you will also be paying the mandatory $10 Premium Data Add-on. You can think of the charge as the “price for paying for a first-class seat on an airplane” and the benefits include unlimited data over Sprint’s 3G and 4G networks.
