Boost Mobile’s Motorola i1 launching on June 20th

Boost Mobile has finally announced that the push-to-talk equipped Motorola i1 will be landing on their network on June 20th.  With a 3.1 inch HVGA display, 5MP camera, Android 1.5, the Motorola i1 may not be the most feature-rich Android handset on the market, but will be the first Android phone to hit Boost Mobile’s pre-paid network and the first Android phone to feature iDEN push-to-talk technology.

Boost Mobile will be selling the Motorola i1 between $349.99 and $399.99 but keep in mind that they do not force customers into two year contracts and offer unlimited calling, texting, and data plans for only $50 a month.  We don’t expect Android fans to line up at Boost Mobile stores and Best Buy locations on June 20th to make sure they are first in line for the Motorola i1, but the phone does give budget minded consumers the chance to finally get their hands on an Android powered smartphone.

Motorola i1 Features

  • Touchscreen smartphone powered by Android
  • 5MP camera with autofocus, flash and video
  • Wi-Fi capable
  • Access to Email Exchange, Gmail, MSN, Yahoo! and more
  • Instant Messaging (Google Talk preloaded, supports additional messaging clients via download such as Yahoo!, AIM and more)
  • Nationwide walkie-talkie
  • Opera Mini 5 & Android browsers
  • Stereo Bluetooth capable
  • 2GB microSD card (supports up to 32GB)
  • GPS enabled
  • Optional SWYPE virtual keypad

Why is it, That every motorola Phone that is coming out now looks it some way shape or form, The same like the CLIQ, and/or CLIQ XT.

    Or is it just me?

I think it’s just the rounded corners that gives it that “sameness”. Their phones seem a little less square than the competition’s.

I’ve been really looking forward to an iDEN based android phone as the contract with my Blackberry 7100i on Nextel is about to expire in less than 3 weeks. I’m very disappointed to hear that this only has 1.5 on it so I might wait a bit before getting it until they announce a newer version of Android for it or until a Windows Phone 7 device with iDEN support comes to Nextel.
