Remember how we said Tegra 2 devices would have exclusive games? Trendy Entertainment was one developer we knew was working on games and today we learned that SouthPeak Interactive will also create Android titles for Android smartphones and tablets powered by the dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor.
While we don’t know exactly which titles SouthPeak will bring to Android, they did announce they were working with the Unreal Engine 3 and promised to showcase faster frame rates, phenomenal graphics, and broader development capabilities.
Melanie Mroz, President and CEO of SouthPeak Interactive sounded pretty excited to be working with NVIDIA and said, “In keeping with our strategy to aggressively pursue unique opportunities in the digital gaming space, we’re thrilled to develop some of the first games for devices powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 processor. Android’s rapidly growing market share represents a huge opportunity for SouthPeak and we are proud to be at the forefront of introducing high-quality games applications to this market.”
One last interesting thing to note about the press release was the closing statement. SouthPeak plans to start promoting their first games for Tegra 2 powered devices “beginning during the Holiday period of 2010″. We know that some Tegra 2 tablets are already in stores, but we were not expecting any phones to launch till early 2011.
Hopefully we can get some hands-on time with some of SouthPeak’s upcoming games soon.Show Press Release
