Verizon details 4G LTE launch tomorrow, flips switch next week

If you watched any NFL games this weekend, I’m sure you caught Verizon’s 4G LTE commercial hyping their big launch. Tomorrow we will learn the full details of the launch as Verizon Wireless will hold a news conference featuring Tony Melone, CTO of Verizon Wireless.

We already know that Verizon 4G LTE is coming to 38 markets this year, but the carrier has yet to launch any devices. It is expected that two USB modems will be unveiled tomorrow and Verizon hinted that LTE handsets will arrive in February.

According to a leaked slide over at Droid Life, the first LTE modem goes on sale December 5th so we expect that is the big day that Verizon flips the 4G switch.

Expectations for the service are high since Verizon is hyping it as the The Fastest 4G Network in America and the largest 4G LTE network in the world.

Right now we RULE….SPRINT AND THE HTC EVO 4G…Verizon is late to the party ESPECIALLY with no devices till march of 2011 come on get real. The Evo on sprint bested there Droid X and the epic bested all there other Droids…..SPRINT IS KING OF 4G AND HAS THE BEST SMARTPHONES ON THE MARKET.

Did someone pay you to spew that BS that I hope no one confuses with a comment? I don’t think anyone disagrees that competition is what brings us better products in the marketplace. Perhaps Verizon’s LTE network will push Sprint to uncap uploads from 1Mbps. Wouldn’t you like that?

      • http://Website Richard

Not sure what kind of pills your on Mr. Jeff but my evo gets 5 to 8 down and 2 to 4 up on 4G not sure where your confussion comes from you must either be a iPhone 4 user or frustrated Droid x lover…either way competition is great and sprint and the evo will lead the way… is great

          The troll replied?! :O

Anyway, do you even know what 4G means? It means getting dl speeds of at least 100mbps(correct me if I’m wrong). Does Sprint get that much? Huh? ONLY 14mbps tops? But that’s not that much more than current 3g. NO ONE currently has true 4G, and no one will for a while. And how stupid can you be comparing data speeds of a faux-4G phone with a 3G phone. Why not comapre their 3G speeds and see who comes out on top. Plus, in terms of speed and GPU power, the Droid 2/X and Fascinate SPANK the Evo so hard, it’ll be sore for weeks. :) Do some research before you attempt to make a comment.

Hans… sound nothing more like a DWEEB YOU ARE speaking of you crappy fascinate and Droid x both devices with so many problems..The HTC evo is the best multimedia device on the market…NO Fascinate, or Droid x can take that away…THE WHOLE SERIES OF GALAXY S DEVICES STUCK ON 2.1 SHOWS HOW GREAT THEY REALLY ARE…Your a dweeb

Verizon might be late to the party but the second they flip the switch their 4G network will be larger than Sprint.

    • http://Website Richard

What does the largest mean when y have no smartphone devices to check this so called largest network….Please Verizon rips off there customers and over charges for everything. SPRINT HAS THE BEST DEVICES AND MOST PROVEN 4G NETWORK AND THE BEST PLANS PERIOD

Sprint does not have the best devices. It has ONE of the top devices, the EVO 4G; you can chalk all of their other phones up to crap. Verizon, on the other hand, has variety: HTC Incredible, Droid, Droid 2, Droid Pro, Droid X, LG Ally, Samsung Continuum, the list goes on, in addition to many other yet-to-be released devices, such as the HTC Mecha, the phone that HTC made to match the Evo.
And it’s not a surprise that they have the best 4G network… it’s the only true one out right now. Once they have competition and they’re still the best, then bragging rights are due. It;s not hard to be the best when you’re the only one in the running…

First off yeah sprint is a good wireless carrier. yeah i have its services BUT NOBODY as of yet has 4G or say 4G speeds. Sprint was able to get away with calling their new technology WiMax 4G before 4G speeds were actually defined. As of recently it has been defined that 4G speeds must consist of 13 mbps or more(someone correct me if im wrong) WiMax offers speeds of 6-8mbps. Everybody is bashing Tmobiles network because they dont have 4G either they offer the same as WiMax but HSPA+(tmobilesnetwork) offers up to 12 mbps on a good day. ATT’s network is the same as Tmobiles so why arent they claming 4G as well ; thats because they know its not.Verizon is claming that it is going to offer actual 4G speeds with their LTE network. So no one can say they have 4G because they dont, so please dont bash each other when each are at fault. My opinion is LTE is the future but who knows WiMax might come through with their network as well.

AT&T doesnt claim 4G because they have no compatible products for their hspa+ network.

What day this month will the 4G phones be for sale?
And as a whole, what day this month will the 4G network be available so I can install it in my home computer for my wireless network.
