The LG Optimus 3D that just appeared in some timely leaked photos this morning has now been confirmed. LG just sent out a press release to announce that the LG Optimus 3D will be unveiled at the upcoming MWC in Barcelona on February 14th.

LG’s claim that this is the “world’s first full 3D smartphone” is a little odd since Sharp already launched several Android models last year, but we are still excited to get our hands on the device. We expect it to have a 4.3 inch WVGA (800 x 540) glasses-free 3D display, dual-lens camera for 3D recording, and be powered by a dual-core processor.

The press release also said this will be “LG’s most advanced smartphone to date” and address the lack of current 3D content with a “one-of-a-kind experience on a mobile device”.

After playing with LG’s Optimus 2X over the weekend, I would place them in the same league as HTC, Motorola, and Samsung. We know that LG has Samsung in their sights as their number one competitor and they are doing everything possible to stay one step ahead of them. Samsung has struggled with software updates, so if LG can out-perform them in that area they might stand a good chance of catching up (or dare I say surpass them).
