Come on! Samsung Galaxy S II in space before the U.S.?

3 years ago 18

The Samsung Galaxy S II is one of the most desired Android smartphones of 2011. Despite its popularity, this phone is yet to make it to the U.S. It’s been popping up everywhere around the world since its debut in Korea last April, but the U.S. is not getting any love from Samsung yet. In fact, they’re taking this phone to outer space before they get it here!

The Galaxy S II Space Balloon project aims to send this device on a quest to earth’s stratosphere. This balloon will be launched into outer space tomorrow, and the event will be broadcast via the project’s Ustream page. Tune in at 8:00 am EDT (North American Eastern Daylight Time). You can even watch it via Ustream’s new Android app!

The GALAXY SII will take off to 100,000 feet with messages of hope and wishes for Japan. Viewers will also be communicate messages in real-time during its 90 minutes of flight through the stratosphere!Akio BandleUstream

The broadcast will also feature 7 “Galaxy Musicians,” who have written songs specifically for this project. We don’t know who they are yet; we’ll have to wait and see tomorrow!

North American Android enthusiasts may be a bit bitter that outer space is getting some Galaxy S II love before the U.S. Complain all you want, but this is actually for a good cause. So, let’s support the cause after we throw our fit. (Please feel free to do so in the comments section). It’ll be interesting to see this outer space adventure, and you’ll be able to watch it straight from here! Tune in tomorrow at 8:00 am EDT for a live broadcast of the video below!
