Video: Gameloft releases BackStab HD on Android Market

Android users are not very happy with Gameloft’s business dealings (or lack thereof) with the Android Market. While Gameloft is definitely one of the best and most popular mobile game developers out there, most their products are not available on the Android Market. Some hard core gamers do choose to take the available route and purchase the games straight from Gameloft, but this business technique surely does affect the developer’s sales.

While Gameloft isn’t giving much love to the Android Market, it seems some changes are being made. They’ve just released BackStab HD, and it’s available on the Android Market for a limited list of devices.

Supported Devices:

  • HTC Desire HD (Ace)
  • HTC Desire S
  • HTC Desire Z (G2, Vision)
  • HTC Evo Shift 4G
  • HTC Incredible 2
  • HTC Incredible S
  • HTC Inspire 4G
  • HTC MyTouch 4G
  • HTC Thunderbolt 4G
  • LG P990 Optimus 2X (Star)
  • LG P999 (Star, G2x)
  • Motorola Droid X
  • Samsung Google Nexus S
  • Samsung Google Nexus S 4G
  • Samsung GT-i9000 (Galaxy S, i9000M, i9000B, i9000T)
  • Samsung GT-P1000 (Galaxy Tab)
  • Samsung SC-02B (Galaxy S)
  • Samsung SCH-i400 (Continuum)
  • Samsung SCH-i500 (Fascinate, Galaxy S)
  • Samsung SCH-i500 (Fascinate, Galaxy S)
  • Samsung SCH-i800 (Galaxy Tab)
  • Samsung SGH-T849 (Galaxy Tab)

  • Samsung SPH-P100 (Galaxy Tab)

We know many Gameloft games have an oddly close resemblance to other games. If you’d like to know what this game is like, it looks and feels a lot like Assassin’s Creed. The game takes a bit of a different story-line though, and it’ll definitely bring some good hours of gaming to your life.

When revenge is coming, watch your back!
“My name is Henry Blake, once a proud officer in England’s Royal Navy. Now I stand a shattered man. Betrayed, imprisoned, my fiancée taken away, I have now found my freedom - and soon I shall find my revenge.”

Take on the role of Henry Blake, a broken man whose life was stripped away, and help in his quest for justice and revenge. Climb, jump and sneak your way through diverse settings to reach your target and strike down adversaries. Use your deadly fighting skills and the combo-based combat system to defeat your nemesis and anyone else who gets in your way. Roam freely across a huge island and gaze upon its magnificent full-3D environments and experience the feeling of an immersive, realistic world around you thanks to impressive non-player character interactions with true-to-life voice effects.GameloftAndroid Market

If your smartphone happens to be included in the list of supported devices, go ahead and check out Gameloft’s brand new game on the Android Market! is anyone else getting tired of seeing games on Android (and for iPhone, for that matter) that have the acronym ‘HD’ added to the end?

these games are not High Definition at all.

Yeah, how will they name them when phones with an actual 720p resolution will start shipping this fall?

It’s interesting and disappointing that this game isn’t available for newer (dual-core) SoC’s. Is it really that difficult to port games to them, even if they don’t utilize all of the advanced programmable features?

On a PC, one can play just about any title they want on almost any hardware and newer hardware will likely play any game out there that are within 5 years old. I wonder when we’ll get to that point with the mobile world.

I’d imagine that they are not rolling out support for the EVO 3D, Sensation SGSII, and a few other newer phones because they have not had time to test them yet. I’m sure the game would run just fine, but I’d rather they test things out on new hardware before rolling it out and finding that there are glitches or performance issues.

Another ripped off title brought to you by the non-creative folks at Riploft. That’s all they do. Modern Combat? Gangster City? Asphalt? Now, BackStab? All ripped off certain titles that I won’t mention.

Is that all you can do is rip names from older video game images.

The game looks awesome but I don’t think I would enjoy playing it on my phone. I’ll consider it when it plays 100% ok on 10.1″ tablet.

Funny how they have the Evo Shift but not the Evo, not a big deal but caught me off guard.

    • http://Website Semianonymous

Evo is a considerably weaker phone than the shift.

Why do gameloft doesn’t release games at 320×480 resolution?
optimus1 has adreno 200 same as the nexus s?
and it can be overclocked to 700+mhz which is I think is enough to run this game…
    or am i wrong?
    ???

Think Assassins Creed crossed with POTC. Textures aren’t the best but the game its 3D so its understandable. would recommend to anyone.
