Motorola Atrix 2 in the wild; images, details leaked

atrix 2

The Motorola Atrix 4G is among the best high-end phones AT&T has to offer. Its early adoption of the Tegra 2 processor definitely helped. But like all other devices, this one has its defects–many of which you’ve been pointing out. Whether you hate it or love it, its popularity will make a great successor. And it seems that device is out there.

BGR has obtained 4 images of what seems to be the Motorola Atrix 2 (or Motorola Edison). And, boy, is this little brother looking better. This device has a much sleeker look; it’s shinier and more aesthetically pleasing overall. The device does seem to be mainly plastic, though, so we can expect the feel and weight to be pretty similar to the original Atrix.

Not much is known about the specs yet, but the little information that has leaked is not bad. The only downside is that, according to BGR’s sources, the device will not come with 4G LTE compatibility. If you’re looking to get on AT&T’s brand new LTE network, you’ll have to look elsewhere. HSPA+ only for this device.

According to the sources, the device will launch with a dual-core processor (most likely a Texas Instruments OMAP), Android 2.3.5 (as seen in the images) and an 8 MP camera with 1080p HD video recording.

Not too shabby, but it also seems it won’t be a huge jump from the Motorola Atrix 4G. Hopefully Motorola and AT&T have other specs to surprise us, especially with a beast like the Samsung Galaxy S II just around the corner.

Stay tuned for more details in the near future. In the meanwhile, check out the images below and let the speculation begin. What else do you guys think comes with this bad boy? When do you think it will be launching?

Side Note

Is it just us, or might this be the device that showed up a few days ago in another leaked image? Not that most devices don’t look the same, but we believe the Atrix 2 might have been the device hanging out in the background.

The form factor looks very similar. Once again, though, most Android devices do look similar, but there are white letters placed in the same place where the new images show “AT&T.” The word seems to be about the same length, too. What do you guys think?
