For the fourth and final week of our Editor’s Choice giveaways, we knew we had to go big. And since football season is underway and we’re just days away from the Big Android BBQ, we got Taylor to curate the ultimate BBQ prize pack.

Along with the ultimate prize pack, we’ve built the ultimate game to give it away. Over at androidandme.com/hackthenews, you’ll find a mini-site inviting you to #HackTheNews and re-title any of our posts for the betterment of the internet.

Our final prize pack is anchored by the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, powered by NVIDIA Tegra. The Tab 10.1 has long since been the defacto tablet for Android and Me staffers, largely due to the huge amount of gaming and browsing power packed into such a tiny, shiny shell.

Along with the Tab, you’ll get a Weber chimney starter (for getting your coals roaring), a Weber grill mitt (for not burning your hand when pouring out said roaring coals), and a King Kooker stainless steel jalapeno rack (for burning your mouth and those of your friends). To make proper use of it all, we’ve also tossed in a ‘How to Grill’ cookbook. Oh, and a full-size Weber smoker.

That’s right, the winner of this week’s contest gets a Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker. This porcelain-enameled steel beast features an 18.5-inch cooking surface, 2 nickel-plated cooking grates, a water pan, thermometer and individual vents on bowl and lid. You’ll be the envy of the neighborhood. (Well, at least when you’ve got the smoker fired up).

So how do I win?

Every day as our authors work on posts and rattle off emails in the staff threads, we repeatedly come up with post titles that are too perfect not to share but are far too ridiculous to ever be used on the site. This constant firing of perfectly pitched titles is what lead to this contest. We want all of you guys to play the game with us.

This week, we’re inviting everyone to re-title any of our posts. To enter to win, you need to change the headline of a story and share it on Twitter or Facebook with the hash #HackTheNews. To make things easy (and to keep track of the suggestions, jokes and sarcasm), we’ve set up a special page.

Over at androidandme.com/hackthenews you can find a list of our current posts along with a tweetbox and a special “hacked” url ready for sharing. You can even #HackTheNews from other sites. We just want to see some humorous headlines.

We’re going to track all the entries with RowFeeder and randomly select a winner next Tuesday, October 4. In addition to the main winner, our staff is going to pick a handful of honorable mentions, which will score a free Android and Me tee (from a yet to be revealed series). This time, the main prize pack is US only. The tees are up for international grabs, though.

We know you guys like to get rowdy about Android, so let’s see what you’ve got. Put on your sarcastic blogger hat, fire up the Twitters, and show us how it’s done. We’ll post and retweet our favorite headlines throughout the week, so keep an eye on @NVIDIATegra and @androidandme. Good luck!

Well, you could mail us an entry, but we’d probably have picked a winner by the time it got here.

Exellent way to promote the site!! good luck to all the participants

BiGMERF, you are a breath of fresh air amongst the hate-filled rankness of the Internet. Always so positive and nice. +10 Internets to you, good sir. I tip my hat.

      • BiGMERF

Thank you Jess ! I cant wait till Mr. Clark gets rid of the haters. Until that day I will continue to kill the internet thugs with a :)

        • http://ArtisticAbode.com BetterWithRoot

I’m with you BiG! I think it’s a great way to get the site out there.

More people visiting means more advertising, means more products that are given to them, means more contests and products for us readers. In my opinion this is a win-win situation.

People always want to know what is in it for them right away without being able to see the future down the road. Twitter and Facebook, like it or not, are the social platforms at the moment. If you want to win, you have to play. Thems the rules; sucks, but if you don’t like it you don’t have to participate.

  • hurric

i don’t like twitter contests either. never used it and apparenly i’m posting tweets i didn’t even post
(spam somehow) anyways i’ll give it a shot but twitter is worst of worst social media outlets for me.

    • Angie Strickland

I can understand that it’s not your cup of tea, but if it’s just for a contest, I don’t seem the harm in signing up an account just for the purpose of being able to participate in things like this. It’s not like you have to use it on a daily basis.

    • http://www.openintro.com OpenIntro

And NOT for a lot of other people. But let them tailor all the competitions for what works for YOU best. Myspace maybe?

  • BiGMERF

In the end it is a contest and in no way shape or form are they obligated to make anyone happy. It is simple, you want to participate? do so as instructed. You dont , well um…. then just dont.

Tell you the truth I get frustrated when I see 2000 posts from one timers in a contest thread and never see them again until the next contest.. Lame

  • Dr.Carpy

Yay! I love the positive vibe I got from reading this thread! I really wish everyone had something positive, witty, or humorous to post. The Android community aren’t rotten apples! You all got that right? Lol! I also wanna win really badly…. if I I don’t I’ll probably sulk….
