Though the quad-core, super-powerful Kal-El chip is not expected to launch in the first tablets for the next month or two, we’re already starting to see signs of the next three Kal-El successors pop up.
According to Germany-based Heise Online, NVIDIA will follow Kal-El with the release of Kal-El+ sometime in 2012, and then the Tegra system will break off into two business lines. Project Wayne will largely target the tablet and superphone market near the end of 2012, and Project Grey will focus on the more basic smartphone market.
Though no other details than their current naming scheme and estimated timetables were leaked, it is certainly worth noting that the folks at NVIDIA are already working at beefing up Kal-El chips, launching Kal-El+ chips in mid-2012.
Hopefully we’ll learn more about Kal-El+, Wayne, and Grey in the coming months. Until then, we’ll just keep hoping we can get our hands on some Kal-El packing tablets in October.
